I wasn’t always a UX designer.
I actually trained in music first, and to this day, I still love to sing and write songs. You might even catch me at an open-mic night now and then.
These days, I make my living designing SaaS solutions, but music remains my first creative language and surprisingly, it still plays a big role in my process.
When I hit a tricky UX challenge, I’ll often turn to music or songwriting as a way to break through.
Why? Because shifting mediums forces me to think differently.
Music engages a different part of my brain, one that’s intuitive, rhythmic, nonlinear. It helps me step away from structure and logic just long enough to find clarity when I return to it.
So if you ever see me tinkering with a guitar while Figma’s open, you can bet I’m about to get unstuck.
